Experience

José Luis commenced his career as a lawyer at one of the most prominent law firms in the IP sector. In 1992, he joined Herrero & Asociados at a first career stage, which he then interrupted to lead the litigation department of another major law firm.
In 2003, he returned to Herrero definitively, having acquired ample experience in procedural law and intellectual property.

He manages and coordinates lawsuits concerning patents, trade marks, unfair competition, advertising, copyright and related rights, in Spain as well as abroad.
In parallel, he negotiates and drafts many types of agreements, most often patent or trade mark licence agreements, technology transfer deals, non-disclosure and confidentiality agreements, coexistence agreements, distribution and franchise contracts and intellectual property assignments.

Being the director of our litigation department, José Luis also organises and manages the department’s human resources.

He has lectured in courses on Industrial Property aimed at the unemployed and potential small entrepreneurs at the Spanish Public Institute for Employment (INEM).
